The event brought together over 2,500 participants from EU Member States and neighboring countries, providing an ideal platform for SCALE-UP to showcase the knowledge and expertise accumulated over the first three years of the project. It also served as an opportunity to highlight the measures developed thus far in the three European SCALE-UP Urban Nodes: Antwerp (BE), Madrid (ES), and Turku (Finland). These measures are designed to facilitate both vertical (governmental) and horizontal (dimensional) upscaling of urban mobility.

SCALE-UP was present with a dedicated stand N° 16. Throughout the event, among 80 stands represented various projects with complimentary or related visions. MOVE21, the sister project of SCALE-UP, also had a dedicated booth, N° 12, where it showcased its developments and current actions.

On 3 April 2024, Mr Michiel Penne, Coordinator of Smart Ways to Antwerp at City of Antwerp, and SCALE-UP Project Coordinator, pitched the SCALE-UP project at the Marketplace session. He highlighted the current measures developed in the three Urban Nodes, introduced the seven Fellow Cities that joined the SCALE-UP project, and outlined collaborative actions taken to achieve the ambitious goals of the Trans-European Transport (TEN-T) regulation.

On the same day, in the session entitled “Urban nodes: connecting the TEN-T network and urban mobility”, Mr Peter Staelens, Head of Mobility at Eurocities, represented the perspective of major European cities on the implementation of the new regulation. Throughout the session, emphasis was placed on the necessity for cities to assume a more prominent role in effectively implementing the TEN-T regulation.

Furthermore, Mr Guy Janssens, VP Strategic & Public Affairs presented the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, a SCALE-UP partner and shared his insights on the key measures following the adoption of the revised TEN-T Regulation during the plenary session titled "Launching the Implementation of the Revised TEN-T Regulation."

Friday, 5 April 2024

On 5 April, the final day of the event, Mr Koen Cuypers, Mobility Expert representing the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, engaged in the “European Transport Corridor Meeting for the North Sea – Rhine – Mediterranean”. He provided insights into the pivotal role and prospects of these corridors as the backbone of the European single market.

The event proved to be a great success, offering a unique opportunity to showcase the SCALE-UP project and engage in fruitful discussions on the topic of urban mobility.

We are looking forward to the next edition of the event!
